Ajo Veterinary Clinic opened its doors in 1973 at its current location in Southwest Tucson. Over the years the number of clients has grown along with our passion for advanced veterinary care, but we have remained locally owned. At every visit we want to meet your pet’s medical needs along with providing compassionate care. Our clinic team is highly trained and takes pride in continuing their education to stay up to date with the most recent medical advances.
Our location provides a unique opportunity to provide care to pets in the neighborhoods nearby or those traveling from the suburbs of Southwest Tucson. We are proud to serve the Old Pueblo and its pets.
Ajo Veterinary Clinic has provided quality veterinary care to our community for over 50 years. As avid animal lovers, we know the importance of your pet to you. We are committed to providing the best care possible to help your pet live a long and happy life. This commitment to the well being of your pet includes state of the art equipment and continuing education to be up to date on medical advances.
In addition to providing medical care, Ajo Veterinary Clinic supports the placement of homeless animals and educating clients about spaying and neutering your pet. Our team gives their time to community causes such as the JTED program and the Tucson chapter of the Street Dog Coalition in addition to sponsoring numerous community events.

Dr. Michael Sugimoto, DVM Veterinarian
“I enjoy having the opportunity to teach people about preventative care and how to best care for their pets. Ensuring every pet gets the best care is my passion.” Dr. Michael Sugimoto
Dr. Michael Sugimoto, a Tucson native, received his degree from the Royal Veterinary College of London (RVC) in 2022. Before moving to London, he worked as a veterinary assistant in Emergency Medicine and Radiology services at an Emergency and Specialty clinic in Tucson all while completing his Bachelors in Science degree at the University of Arizona. His veterinary interests include Preventative Medicine, Radiology and Neurology.
While not at the clinic, Dr. Sugimoto loves playing board games/videogames with his friends and his wife, watching/playing soccer as well as relaxing with his dog Thai and his cat Aki.
